Butterflies

Strange facts about Butterflies

Butterflies are weird creatures. They’re weird but they are beautiful honey collectors. The strange facts about them unique and beautiful.

Butterflies have green blood. A butterfly uses the end of its antennae to smell things. Butterflies breathe through tiny air holes on the side of them. Butterflies are cold-blooded. Their body temperature can be cold or warm, depends on the air around them. If it is cold, the butterfly can’t fly. It has to wait for its body  and wings to warm up so it could move. Most butterflies have six legs, monarch butterflies have four legs. Butterflies taste with their feet. The butterfly’s long tongue is like a straw to suck up nectar from flowers. When its tongue is not being used, the butterfly rolls it up like a spring. Strange patterns on the wings may scare away predators. Eye spots on the wings make it look like a large face. A wing is covered with tiny scales that overlap like tiles on a roof. Brightly coloured wings warn birds to not eat them because they will taste bad. A butterfly’s eye contain thousands of tiny lenses to help it see. Like humans they only have one.

There are many more strange facts about them and that make them unique and beautiful from other creatures. These are the things that make them survive and adapt to their environment.
